Mindy Shaffer
Mindy Shaffer has been a licensed massage therapist for over 14 years. She received her education at The Reese Institute in Oviedo, which later became Florida College of Natural Health. Studying under the philosophies of Dr. Reese, Mindy was educated to be a qualified massage therapist as well as a spiritual therapist and energy healer. She has worked as a manager at The Spa at The Breakers in Palm Beach as well as being a therapist there and working with celebrities. Her next endeavor took her to Hobe Sound, FL to open a boutique spa for Greg Norman on his exclusive golf course.
Mindy has studied many modalities which give her the ability to help clients on many levels. She designs each massage around the client incorporating techniques such as cranio-sacral, aromatherapy, neuromuscular and Swedish. Also studying along the way reflexology, hot stone massage, manual lymph drainage and ETPS.
Mindy truly enjoys being a massage therapist and energy healer. She continues to further her knowledge by taking new courses each year to add to her toolbox of modalities.
Types of Massage
Swedish Massage - A relaxing technique meant to increase circulation, relieve stress, increase oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Swedish massage can decrease recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid and other metabolic wastes.
Therapeutic/Deep Tissue Massage - Deep tissue massage is similar to Swedish in its benefits. However, with this technique the therapist goes beyond the superficial muscles, works deeper and into the muscle attachments. As these deeper muscles are released and the “knots” are broken up with techniques such as Trigger Point Therapy, structural improvements can occur.
Chair massage - On-site chair massage is a great way to relieve stress of the day, increase the effectiveness and efficiency of an employee or business owner. Studies have shown that a 10-15 minute massage can rejuvenate a person and help put focus back on the tasks at hand. The client is seated in a special massage chair and fully clothed. This is a great “quick fix”.
ETPS (Electro Therapeutic Point Stimulation) - ETPS is based firmly on the concepts of acupuncture. A non-invasive tool is used to apply direct current on acupuncture and trigger points to relieve pain. The low frequency can produce an endorphin (your bodies own internal pain relieving system) response, just as in acupuncture.
Rates are as follows- a half hour is $35, 1 hour massage is $65 and a 1 ½ hours is $95. Energy healing sessions are $60. A chair massage is $20 and typically 15-20 minutes; if longer is requested $1 a minute will be added. Gratuities are at the client’s discretion but not expected.
